Freeman Shares Journey with Sch'dy Kids

Schenectady, NY - Rashaun Freeman overcame severe dyslexia to not only graduate from Schenectady High School in 2002, but to also get his college degree from UMass.  He did all that while also becoming one of the greatest basketball players in the history of both institutions.

The 6'9" forward has enjoyed a successful professional basketball career overseas.  Freeman played this past season in Israel.  But he's back in his hometown this summer spreading the word that anything is possible.  Even if you're from a neighborhood like Hamilton Hill.

"To be honest, I really didn't dream big because I wasn't familiar with anything else," Freeman said Monday before a workout at the Schenectady YMCA.  "But once I started playing AAU ball (with the Albany City Rocks), and then got a chance to go to college, I wanted more."
