Significant Winter Storm Possible From Monday Night Through Tuesday

An area of low pressure will track to our south through Monday.  Some light snow should develop through Monday afternoon and evening as a result.  The low pressure will then rapidly intensify off of the Northeast coast Monday night and Tuesday.  Uncertainty remains as to the exact track of this low pressure, but if it tracks close enough to the coast, portions of the area could see a significant snowfall.

Local ALS Patient Meets Hero Lou Brock

Castleton, NY - Mike Britt is a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, especially rooting for Hall of Fame outfielder Lou Brock.  To this day, he carries Brock's baseball card in his truck as a sort of good luck charm.

Britt suffers from ALS.

On Friday, he got to meet Brock for the first time while the former stolen base champion was in Cooperstown for induction weekend.

"(Brock) lived a clean life and was a good guy," Britt said Tuesday.  "Once you get to meet him, it just resonates how good a guy he is."

Britt grew up playing both baseball and football.  He graduated from Maple Hill High School in 1977, and eventually joined the Marines, serving for three years.

"Living with ALS is better than dying with ALS because you're still living," said the 55-year-old Britt shortly after finishing his lawn Tuesday afternoon.

Cutting grass on a riding mower is a mundane task for most.  But not for someone with ALS.  The same goes for meeting your idol.

ALS stands for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, and is better known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. There is no known cure for this rapidly progressive, invariably fatal neurological disease.

"Living with ALS (means) you're still doing positive things with your grandsons or your family," added Britt, "or meeting Lou Brock."
