Guilderland Survives 5 OT Epic

Albany, NY - Matt Cerutti's 29 points and 26 rebounds led Guilderland to a wild five overtime triumph against Columbia, 102-100, in Wednesday's first Class AA Section II semifinal at the Times Union Center.

In a game that seemingly would never end, Marc DuMoulin added 28 points.  Billy Floyd chipped in with 22 points.

"I've never been through anything like this," an exhausted Floyd said moments after the final horn.  "It was insane."

While his teammates struggled from the foul line, Floyd calmly hit 9 of 11 including several clutch free throws throughout the 20 extra minutes of basketball.

Jahlil Nails scored a game-high 41 points in defeat for the Blue Devils, before having to leave with a leg injury.

With the win, the Dutchmen advance to Monday's Class AA Championship game against Green Tech back at the TUC.  Guilderland has never won a Section II title in boys basketball.

Up until Wednesday, the Dutchmen had also never played a game that lasted five overtimes.
