FLOOD WATCH Through Friday Morning - Strong Wind Gusts on Thursday

Runoff from the combination of today and tonight's additional rainfall and mountain snow melt could become sufficient to produce flooding of small streams and creeks as well minor flooding of some main stem rivers into Friday morning.  Typical urban and poor drainage flooding will also be possible during periods of heavier rainfall.  Strong wind gusts will develop in the wake of the rain on Thursday, with gusts from 40-50 mph possible during the afternoon

Local crew returns after battling Washington wildfires

A 20-member firefighting crew is back home after spending more than 2 weeks battling a raging wildfire in Washington State.

Crews from around the country were sent to help contain the nearly 14,000 acre fire. The New York team says the dealt with rough terrain and daily temperatures often reaching 90 degrees - vastly different conditions to what they are used to back at home.

In a statement, the Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Conservation thanked the crew for their service. "All New Yorkers should be proud of this crew for demonstrating courage and compassion in assisting others in a time of need."
