Racetrack celebrating Saratoga Heritage Day
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) -- Saratoga Race Course is celebrating the history and culture of its hometown with a day of activities at the historic track.
The New York Racing Association says Wednesday's Saratoga Heritage Day will feature live music at the grandstand and clubhouse entrances and other locations on the grounds, and performances by a local dance school on the track apron in front of the grandstand.
Saratoga Springs Mayor Joanne Yepsen and other local leaders will unveil the official logo for next year's celebration commemorating the centennial of Saratoga's incorporation as a city.
Saratoga-area museums will take part in the festivities, while several Saratoga-based food companies will offer samples.
Saratoga Springs was incorporated as a village in 1826 and became a city in 1915. Saratoga Race Course is 150 years old this summer.
