Snowstorm Well Underway - Periods of Heavy Snow and Difficult Travel into Tonight

Snowfall rates of 1" to at times 2" per hour are likely this afternoon and this evening across most of the area as low pressure passes to the region's south.  This will cause rapid accumulations and low visibility producing hazardous travel conditions.  The storm will begin winding down after 10-11pm with accumulating snow ending from west to east between 1am and 4am Thursday. Car share program is up and 'driving'

ALBANY - Albany's capital car share program is off and running, as the city's first independent car-sharing operation.

14 people already signed up during the first week.
 
There will be six Eco-friendly cars, in a variety of colors, parked throughout the city.

There is a fee to use one of the cars, but once signed up all you have to do is make a reservation, use your key fob to get in the car and you're off.
   
Mayor Kathy Sheehan was at the launch this Friday morning.
   
The goal is to get 100 members signed up by September.
