National Grid responds to smoking manhole cover in Albany
ALBANY -- Nearly 900 customers lost power late Monday evening due to a fault in underground lines, according to a National Grid spokesperson.
Albany Common Councilman Judd Krasher said he received reports from residents a manhole cover was smoking and lifted into the air. National Grid was unable to immediately verify the claim and said when crews arrived the manhole was not smoking.
Power was restored in less than two hours, but workers continued to repair substations damaged in the fault.
