Cuomo signs law aimed at helping veterans

ALBANY -- Current servicemen, veterans and their families now have a new avenue of support in New York.

On Monday, Governor Cuomo signed a law aimed at helping in a number of ways, including dealing with education. The law makes it easier for children to transition to new school if their families have to move because of military orders.

It also offers lower in-state tuition rates to veterans enrolled in the CUNY and SUNY systems under the GI Bill. The law also honors those who have made the ultimate sacrifice by expanding supplemental burial assistance to help families pay for funeral expenses not covered by the federal government.
