Police: 2 teens threw rocks from Thruway overpass

ROTTERDAM, N.Y. (AP) -- State police say they've charged two teenage boys with throwing rocks off a Thruway overpass outside Albany and damaging five tractor-trailers.

Troopers say four large trucks had their windshields broken on June 23 while they traveled in Interstate 90's eastbound lanes in the Schenectady County town of Rotterdam, 12 miles northwest of Albany.

Another trucker reported on Aug. 17 that his windshield was broken by a rock in the same area. Troopers say the driver immediately pulled over and spotted two people running from the overpass.

Police say the public helped them identify the teens, a 15-year-old from Rotterdam and a 16-year-old from Princetown.

Both are charged with reckless endangerment and criminal mischief.

No injuries were reported from the incidents.
