Man arrested, accused of impersonating a Troy cop

TROY -- Officials arrested a man they say was posing as a police officer at the South Troy Pool.

Ross Congeni, 52, is now facing criminal impersonation charges after workers and patrons at the pool say he identified himself as a Troy Police officer. According to officials, Cogeni flashed a police badge, but did it so quickly that it could not be read. This made staff suspicious, and after investigation, authorities say they determined he had been lying about his identity and was in possession of a stole police badge.

The badge belonged to a Patterson, New Jersey, police officer. Officials say Cogeni also had a handcuff key with him.
