Northumberland plane crash kills two

NORTHUMBERLAND - Officials in Saratoga County have confirmed the single engine plane crash in Northumberland on Saturday afternoon claimed the lives of two men.

Officials say the crash occurred after the plane attempted to take off from Heber Airpark. The plane came to rest upside down on the front lawn of a Brownsville Road Home.

Authorities say the Cessna, piloted by Ciprian Ivascu, 33, of Newburgh, struck the top of a tree, causing the plane to crash.

Ivascu and his passenger, Jon Stomski, 61, of Milton were pronounced dead at the scene.

Heber Airpark is listed as privately owned according to FAA information found online.

The FAA is investigating.
