Police: Man abused woman, tried to force her to ATM

EAST GREENBUSH -- Police say a local woman suffered an hour or more of abuse on Sunday before neighbors and a cop were alerted by her screams.

According to East Greenbush Police, Officer Michael Guadagnino was on patrol when he heard the woman screaming and pulled up near a home on 104 Sherwood Avenue. That's where officials say Robert Meseck, 47, was grabbing and pulling a woman across a driveway and up the steps toward the doorway. The officer says the woman clung on to the handrail as Meseck tried to pry her away. She was yelling for help when a neighbor who had heard her shouts also rushed to help her.

Officer Guadagnino arrested Meseck, who lives at the address. He has been charged with abusing the victim by threatening her with a knife and attempting to force her to go to an ATM and withdraw money.

Investigators say it was when the man brought the victim out to his car to drive to the ATM that she was able to scream and attract attention.
