Divers pull body from Poestenkill Falls

TROY -- New York State Police Divers pulled a man's body from a gorge in Troy Monday.
The Troy Fire Chief said fire crews were called to the Poestenkill Falls after a woman ran to a nearby garage and asked employees to call 911. She told them her boyfriend went under water and didn't come back up.
The Chief said it is a dangerous area.    Crews lowered equipment and at least one firefighter down into the gorge. Others walked in.
"You're sending them into harms way. They are repelling down," said Fire Chief Tom Garrett. "It's just shale there, it's easy to slip. We train for this all the time we are constantly training because of the gorge."
When fire crews couldn't find the man, they called State Police divers in.
Chief Garrett said those divers found the man's body stuck under a ledge under the water.
His name has not been released yet. We don't know if the couple was swimming or hiking at the time.
