Mayor urges residents to prepare for heavy rain

ALBANY -- Residents in Albany are being urged to prepare for possible heavy rains.

Mayor Kathy Sheehan put out the message on Tuesday, particularly urging those slammed by last week's flooding to expect more of the same in the coming days. With an inch or tow of rain per hour possible, Sheehan has asked residents still cleaning up to remove debris from curbs or near sewers.

The mayor is also urging people to avoid doing things that could put a burden on the water system, like laundry, during heavy rain, and to keep an eye out for washed out roads and mudslides.
