Snowstorm Well Underway - Periods of Heavy Snow and Difficult Travel into Tonight

Snowfall rates of 1" to at times 2" per hour are likely this afternoon and this evening across most of the area as low pressure passes to the region's south.  This will cause rapid accumulations and low visibility producing hazardous travel conditions.  The storm will begin winding down after 10-11pm with accumulating snow ending from west to east between 1am and 4am Thursday. Police: Man wields machete after fender bender

PALMER, Mass. (AP) -- Police in Palmer are looking for a man they say used a machete to threaten somebody after a minor accident in an ice cream stand parking lot.

Police say officers responded to the ice cream stand at about 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Witnesses say after a minor accident, a man pulled a machete out of his car and brandished it in a threatening manner.

The man then got back in his car, allegedly hit another woman with is vehicle, and left the scene. The woman did not require medical attention.

Police say the man they are looking for a 79-year-old former Palmer resident who now lives in Florida. They know his name and have a description of his vehicle.
