OGS begins search for holiday tree

ALBANY -- The New York State Office of General Services is searching for this year's holiday tree.

OGS is actually on the lookout for two trees -- one for East Capitol Park and another to be displayed on Empire State Plaza near the skating rink. They say the trees will be removed at no cost to the property owner in November and lit as part of the tree lighting and fireworks celebration on December 7.

They are looking for spruce trees between 35 and 55 feet tall that are easily accessible on the property and clear of power lines. Anyone interested in the opportunity should contact Michael Harris at or Jeremy Jasper at Please include your name, the address where the tree is located, and a phone number where you can be reached. If you have a photo of the tree, please include that as well.
