Union College president participates in 'ice challenge'

SCHENECTADY -- It may be hard to believe, but people are voluntarily dumping buckets of ice water on their heads all for a great cause.

The challenge is a show of support for loved ones living with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, or ALS. It's a debilitating muscle condition also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. To raise awareness, friends dare each other to post videos of themselves getting soaked with ice cold water on social media. Those who go through with it nominate others to do the same. Those who refuse make a donation to an ALS charity.

On Thursday, the Stephen Ainlay, Union College's president, got in on the action. To see his full experience and interview, click here.
