State Fair attracts fried-food fans
SYRACUSE (CNN Newsource) -- We've heard of fried Twinkies, ice cream and Oreo cookies, but a food truck at New York’s 168th State Fair is promising to tickle taste buds with a twist on fried goodies.
The fair kicked off last week and attendees are becoming aquatinted with "deep fried specialties." Owner Jim Hasbrouck has been the deep fried delicacies creator for nearly a decade.
So what keeps visitors coming back to his truck?
Creations like the one pictured above. It's called a twinx. It's a Twix stuffed in a Twinkie and wrapped in bacon.
"Everything is light and fluffy. Deep fry shouldn't be heavy. Everybody thinks it's heavy when we hit them with a sample and they see how light and fluffy it is, they buy. It's all in the batter and the batter is the key to everything," says Hasbrouck.
The fair runs through Labor Day at the state fairgrounds in Syracuse, New York.
