Jockey thrown from horse during race at Saratoga

SARATOGA SPRINGS - A jockey was taken to the hospital after he was thrown from his mount.

Jockey Rosario Montanez was transported by ambulance and admitted to Albany Medical Center Saturday afternoon after being unseated from his mount.

The incident occurred in the fifth race at Saratoga Race Course.

Montanez was riding Piquant when the incident occured.

NYRA safety steward Dan Nelson stated in a release that Montanez will be evaluated for facial injuries and for a possible concussion and he was also complaining of pain in his ribs and pelvic area.
