3 struck by lightning in Rotterdam

ROTTERDAM -- Officials say three people were stuck by lightning on Wednesday in Rotterdam.

Town Supervisor Harry Buffardi says three people were hit at the Curry Road water filling station. Officials say that shortly after 2 p.m., Rotterdam Highway Department workers were loading a packer truck with empty boxes at the filling station when the lightning struck the area and knocked them off their feet.

Officers on the scene requested medical help. Authorities say all three employees sustained minor injuries and were taken to Ellis Hospital for evaluation.

Water distribution has been suspended at the site until 9 a.m. on Thursday.
