Police: Amsterdam man crashed car while on oxycodone

TOWN OF FLORIDA -  Police say an Amsterdam man is facing multiple charges after they say he crashed his car.

State Police say 40 year-old Daniel Oldorff crashed his car while under the influence of Oxycodone.

A passer-by notified police of a unoccupied vehicle in a ditch along Route 30 in the Town of Florida.

Witnesses then began to call police that a man was staggering in a parking lot near the crash, appearing to be under the influence, according to authorities.

After tracking the plate number to Oldorff's address, State Police found him laying in the backyard curled up in the fetal position.  Police say he admitted to driving the car and planned to retrieve it later in the day, then handed the Trooper a blue pill.

Police also determined that Oldorff's mother picked him up from the accident scene and brought him home.

Oldorff was later arraigned in the Town of Mohawk Court and remanded to the Montgomery County Jail on $2500 bail. He's charged with misdemeanor operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
