Gansevoort woman charged with fraud

CLIFTON PARK A Gansevoort woman was charged with multiple forgery counts Monday after State Police say she used a lost credit card to make purchases throughout Rensselaer County.

Police say a woman from downstate reported losing her credit card in the Albany-area last week. When she called her credit card company, she was notified of several unauthorized charges.

Police say they used video surveillance cameras at local businesses to identify Sara Barnes, 23. During questioning, police say she admitted to using the credit card.

Barnes was charged with multiple counts of Forgery in the 2nd degree and criminal possession of stolen property in the 4th degree for the thefts. She was also charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree for drugs found in her vehicle.

She was given an appearance ticket and is scheduled to make appearances in courts in Rensselaer and Saratoga Counties.
