Police ID man killed on Thruway in Albany
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -- State police have identified the man who was struck and killed while standing in the middle of the Thruway on Albany's outskirts, shutting down Interstate 87's southbound lanes for six hours.
Troopers say 28-year-old David Miller of Rome in central New York was standing in the center of the three southbound lanes between exits 24 and 23 when he was hit by a tractor-trailer around 10 p.m. Sunday.
The accident closed I-87's southbound lanes and resulted in eastbound traffic on Interstate 90 to be diverted off the highway at Exit 24 until 4 a.m. Monday while police investigated.
The truck driver wasn't injured.
Investigators are still trying to determine why Miller was on the highway.
