Funds committed to local canal repairs

AMSTERDAM -- Funds from the State Canal Corporation will be going towards local repairs along the Erie Canal.

Lieutenant Governor Bob Duffy announced $40 million for the project in Amsterdam on Monday. The plan includes installing an early warning system so communities can coordinate with the state where floods are expected and improving seven locks between Scotia and Fort Plain.

Money will also go towards restoring the historic Guy Park Manor in Amsterdam.
