Snowstorm Well Underway - Periods of Heavy Snow and Difficult Travel into Tonight

Snowfall rates of 1" to at times 2" per hour are likely this afternoon and this evening across most of the area as low pressure passes to the region's south.  This will cause rapid accumulations and low visibility producing hazardous travel conditions.  The storm will begin winding down after 10-11pm with accumulating snow ending from west to east between 1am and 4am Thursday. Astorino: Feds overreaching on affordable housing issue

ALBANY -- The federal government is withholding more than $5 million in community development grants from Westchester County because it will not do a survey of local zoning laws to find out where it is coming up short on affordable housing.

The County Executive there is Rob Astorino, a Republican running for Governor. Astorino has come under fire from the Cuomo campaign over the issue, but Astorino says the feds are overreaching.

He also challenged the Governor, who lives in Westchester County, to a debate on the issue.
