Famous racing announcer calls it quits
BELMONT - The famous horse racing announcer Tom Durkin has announced that he is deciding to retire.
Durkin said that his last race will be at the Saratoga Race Course on August 31st.
Durkin began calling races at county fairs in Wisconsin in the summer of 1971 and started his long career with the New York Racing Association in 1990.
Durkin's voice has been a mainstay for visitors of the Saratoga Race Track for many years, bringing excitement and drama to every race.
