Nurses take North Adams hospital fight to statehouse

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- A group of nurses took their fight over the shuttered North Adams Regional Hospital to the statehouse on Tuesday.

They brought with them signed petitions they delivered to state lawmakers and Governor Patrick. Two weeks ago, the Governor said no one believes there is a formula for a full service hospital in North Adams. It's that sentiment that the group hopes to change with their trip.

"I think he is on our side; I think he understands that we do need a full service hospital," says on supporter.

Progress is being made on restoring emergency room services in North Adams. On Monday, the state approved a plan to allow Berkshire Medical Center to run it. That plan still needs federal approval.
