Terrorist attack training scheduled for Crossgates Mall

ALBANY -- The FBI will hold a terrorist attack training at Crossgates Mall on Wednesday.

The FBI is teaming up with the Department of Homeland Security, Guilderland Police, the Albany County Sheriff's Office and Westmere FD for the drill, which will take place between 4 and 10 a.m. The operation is the final phase of the Complex Mall Attack initiative, which was developed to promote preparedness.

"This training initiative focuses on agency collaboration and how we can support and leverage each other's assets and capabilities to more effectively respond to and resolve a critical incident, such as a complex terrorist attack," says FBI Special Agent in Charge, Andrew Vale.

The public is encouraged to avoid the mall property during the simulation. For more information about this type of training, visit www.fbi.gov/about-us/cirg/active-shooter-and-mass-casualty-incidents.
