Accumulating snow ends between midnight and 2-3am as the Snow Storm Winds Down

Some additional bursts of moderate snowfall are likely through midnight with additional snow accumulations of 1"-3" through 2am.  Snowfall rates will rapidly diminish through early Thursday morning as the snowfall becomes light and intermittent with only a bit of patchy light snow or snow grains persisting beyond daybreak on Thanksgiving.

Canada honors American soldier for crash heroics

FORT DRUM, N.Y. (AP) -- A soldier stationed at Fort Drum in northern New York is being honored by the Canadian government for rescuing more than two dozen passengers from a burning charter bus after it was rear-ended on an upstate highway in 2011.

The Watertown Daily Times that Staff Sgt. Jacob Perkins of Mountain Grove, Mo., will receive the Medal of Bravery from Canada's governor general during a ceremony Thursday in Ottawa.

Perkins was headed home on leave in July 2011 when he saw a tractor-trailer hit the rear of a bus on the Thruway in central New York. The bus was taking a group from Ontario, Canada to New York City.

Perkins pulled 26 passengers from the burning bus. All 52 on board survived. The truck driver was the only fatality.
