Tenn. man arrested for faking his own kidnapping

KNOX CO., Tenn. (CNN Newsource) -- In Tennessee, police arrested a man they say faked being held hostage in order to get a ransom from his mother.

The mother of Zachery Logsdon, 25, called police after her son sent her text messages claiming his "dealer" was going to kill him if he didn't get $200. But she was suspicious; she says he'd pulled a similar stunt in the past to try to get money for drugs.

She called 911, and police arranged a drop-off spot for the money. When Logsdon himself showed up, police ran him down and arrested him.

Police say he repeated the story about being taken hostage. But when his story kept changing, they charged him with filing a false report and resisting arrest.
