Dozens of cats discovered in home hit by fire

TROY -- Dozens of cats were discovered in a home in Troy that was hit by fire on Monday night.

The Mohawk Hudson River Humane Society was on the scene on Tuesday to remove some of the cats. The cats were reportedly found in cages in the Maple Avenue home by firefighters. The cats remained in the home overnight until animal control and shelter officials could remove them.

The Red Cross says it is assisting one person after the fire, providing food, clothing and lodging.
