Snowstorm Well Underway - Periods of Heavy Snow and Difficult Travel into Tonight

Snowfall rates of 1" to at times 2" per hour are likely this afternoon and this evening across most of the area as low pressure passes to the region's south.  This will cause rapid accumulations and low visibility producing hazardous travel conditions.  The storm will begin winding down after 10-11pm with accumulating snow ending from west to east between 1am and 4am Thursday. Hudson cop rescues tangled deer

GREENPORT -- A Hudson Police Officer put his off-duty skills to work, freeing a deer that was tangled in some Christmas lights.
Officer Kevin Sweet was visiting his mother when he noticed the animal had the lights wrapped around its neck and legs.  Armed with his cell phone and a knife, Officer Sweet inched toward the deer and cut it free.
Officer Sweet said that after the deer was free, it sat in the snow looking at the officer for a minute before taking off.  He said that be put some apples out for the animal, which were all gone an hour later.
