Court denies appeal for Albany Imam
ALBANY -- The attorney for an Albany mosque leader convicted of helping terrorists spoke out on Friday.
Yassin Aref was one of two men convicted in 2006 on money laundering charges in a sting involving a fake missile plot. On Monday, a federal court denied his request to appeal the conviction, which carries a sentence of 15 years behind bars.
Aref's attorney says the Imam had no idea what was supposedly going on.
