Man arrested for approaching elementary student

ALBANY -- Police say a man is in custody after approaching an 11-year-old student from Arbor Hill Elementary School.

Darryl Fraser, 30, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and stalking. The victim says she was approached by Fraser at about 9:30 on Friday on her way to school as she walked along Livingston Avenue. She says the man was in his driveway when he approached her and asked her to come into his home. According to the girl, she refused to talk to the man and continued walking.

Police say that is when Fraser got into his car and followed the young girl for several blocks in an attempt to talk to her. They say the victim refused to respond to the man and ran to get help.

Police say this incident is unrelated to a similar incident on Northern Boulevard last Tuesday. In that case, Police continue to search for two suspects described as black males, approximately 30-40 years of age with dreadlocks and beards driving a black BMW sedan. Anyone with information in that case is asked to call the Albany Police Detective Division at (518) 462-8039.
