Rensselaer man once accused of rape pleads guilty to attempted burglary
ALBANY -- A Rensselaer man who made headlines last year when rape charges were dropped against him because of a clerical error has pleaded guilty to attempted burglary.
John Halacy entered a guilty plea on Thursday morning in Albany county Court. The case concerns a Thanksgiving Day burglary in Colonie. Police say Halacy and his brother Raymond, along with Andre Beverly, broke into a home and stole thousands of dollars worth of items.
Halacy will be sentenced in early April. He faces up to 5 and a half years in prison.
