Snowstorm Well Underway - Periods of Heavy Snow and Difficult Travel into Tonight

Snowfall rates of 1" to at times 2" per hour are likely this afternoon and this evening across most of the area as low pressure passes to the region's south.  This will cause rapid accumulations and low visibility producing hazardous travel conditions.  The storm will begin winding down after 10-11pm with accumulating snow ending from west to east between 1am and 4am Thursday. Salt truck overturns in Columbia Co.

COLUMBIA COUNTY -- A heavily traveled road that connects Dutchess and Columbia Counties was closed on Thursday after a truck carrying road salt overturned.

The incident occurred around 8 a.m. on Route 82 just south of Ancram in Columbia County. The truck was carrying tons of salt when it rolled over, spilling some of its contents on the road.

The driver of the truck was not injured. Officials say the cause of the accident is under investigation.
