Student in custody over Mechanicville school threat

SARATOGA COUNTY -- The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office says a student is in custody following a bomb threat on Thursday.

A 13-year-old male student was taken into custody for allegedly making a threat, just a day after the students sheltered in place due to another threat.

Officials say the threat was made verbally in front of teachers and students. The Sheriff's Office responded and charged the student with falsely reporting an incident. He has since been released to the custody of his parents.

"Bomb threats are not a joke" says Sheriff Michael Zurlo, speaking of the back-to-back incidents at the school. "We take every threat seriously and we will continue to commit all available resources to the protection of our children and our schools.
