Lawmaker unveils veterans initiative

ALBANY -- On Tuesday, one lawmaker unveiled a first-in-the-nation initiative focusing on veterans with disabling injuries who are unable to get back into the workforce.

Glenville Assemblyman Jim Tedisco joined other state lawmakers and several disabled veterans and their families in calling on the Assembly to launch the G.I.V.E-back New York program. It would allow the Assembly to set aside a certain number of legislative internship spots specifically for those military men and women who have been severely injured in defense of their country.

Tedisco says they would like to see about 15-25 percent of the internships and the funding go to the disabled vets.
