Official: Portions of Safe Act not enforced
ALBANY -- New York's controversial gun law, the Safe Act, went into effect more than a year ago. Now, top officials say there are parts of the law not being enforced.
State Police Superintendent Joseph D'amico testified in a legislative hearing in Albany that he has no idea when the technology will exist for his Department to conduct background checks on buyers of ammunition.
Additionally, The Buffalo News reports State Police are not enforcing the 7-round limit in gun magazines because that portion of the law is still being challenged in federal court.
