Ind.-based hotel manager tight-lipped about breach

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- A major U.S. hotel operator says it's investigating a data breach that may affect customers from nearly a year ago but won't say how many people might be affected.

Indiana-based White Lodging on Monday was tight-lipped about the investigation and declined to answer questions. Cybersecurity blogger Brian Krebs first reported the breach and said it could affect thousands of guests at Marriott hotels managed by White Lodging since March 23, 2013.

The breach involving credit and debit card information is the latest in a wave of cyber break-ins involving millions of customers reported during the past month.

Marriott issued a statement saying the breach didn't impact any systems it owns or controls and that it had no additional information.

White Lodging manages 168 hotels under various brands in 21 states.
