Vt. Housing Authority to use dogs to find bed bugs

ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. (AP) -- The Vermont Housing Authority is going to be using specially trained dogs to help determine if there is a bed bug problem at the Depot Square Apartments in St. Johnsbury.

Depot Square resident William Heath says he received a letter from the authority this week saying the inspection will take place on Feb. 28.

The letter says the authority has contracted with a company that uses specially trained dogs to detect bed bugs.

Heath tells the Caledonian Record he contacted the authority with concerns about ongoing bed bug problems and other issues.

Authority Field Services Director Cliff Bergh confirmed the bed bug inspection letter was sent, but would not comment further.

Bed bug problems were reported in a number of St. Johnsbury locations last year.
