Snowstorm Well Underway - Periods of Heavy Snow and Difficult Travel into Tonight

Snowfall rates of 1" to at times 2" per hour are likely this afternoon and this evening across most of the area as low pressure passes to the region's south.  This will cause rapid accumulations and low visibility producing hazardous travel conditions.  The storm will begin winding down after 10-11pm with accumulating snow ending from west to east between 1am and 4am Thursday. Trio arrested for Waterford home invasion

WaterfordThree suspects have been arrested after Waterford police received a call Sunday for a home invasion.

When arriving to the 1st Street residence in Waterford, police found two victims, a man and woman. The victims said four people entered their home, one had a semi-automatic handgun. While the woman called police from the bathroom, authorities say the suspects hit the man in the head with the handgun and punched and kicked him. Police say that before leaving the home, the suspects allegedly stole $30.00 and a small amount of marijuana.

Ian Castaldo, 21, of Cohoes and Brendan Conway, 17, of Waterford were arrested and charged with Robbery, Burglary and Assault. In lieu of a bail/bond, Castaldo was remanded to the Saratoga County jail. Conway was released after posting a $40,000 bond.

This morning police arrested a third defendant in this investigation. Jeremy Fontaine, 19, of Cohoes has been released after posting a $40,000 bond.

Officials say the investigation is ongoing with more arrests possible.
