Police investigate Facebook post

Police in two Capital Region towns, are investigating after a  Facebook post put officers and residents on alert.

The Facebook post claims a woman was pulled over this week, on River Road Extension at the border of Colonie and Niskayuna, right near the entrance to the bike path by a man, who was allegedly impersonating a police officer.

The post says the man was driving a large white SUV dressed in black pants, and a black button-down shirt.

He apparently approached her driver-side window and told her, she couldn't block traffic on the narrow road.  He then asked that she let him in the back seat, so they could drive together  to the entrance of the bike path.

The Facebook post says, the woman asked for a badge, then called 911 to make sure it was legitimate.

At that point, the man apparently sprinted back to his car and took off.

Police in Colonie and Niskayuna say they are aware of the post and are looking into it but have not received a formal complaint.
