Nurse pleads guilty to elderly abuse

ALBANY -- A nurse in Albany pleaded guilty to abusing an elderly resident in her care.

The State Attorney General announced on Tuesday that Sarina Francis, 36, faces charges including endangering the welfare of a vulnerable elderly person following an incident in August at the Hudson Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on Northern Boulevard in Albany. Authorities say Francis admitted that while taking an elderly resident to her room, she grabbed the patient by the wrist and twisted her arm, causing a fracture.

Francis is scheduled for sentencing in March. She faces 30 days in the Albany County jail and 5 years probation.
