Local company helps out Olympic hopefuls

WATERVLIET -- When the U.S. luge team takes off down the track at the Sochi games, a local company can take some of the credit for their speed.

U.S. silver medalist Gordy Sheeer was in Watervliet on Wednesday to tout the work of Norton, a brand of abrasives, and a local company. Norton is partnering with the luge team by donating products and providing expertise to help the lugers go faster and perform better. They are donating abrasives that have helped create a perfectly shaped steel runner.

Norton has been partnering with the U.S. Luge Association for more than 30 years.
