Runners Attempt to Break Record and Raise Money

ALBANY - Participants in the Fleet Feet Sports 24-Hour Fight against Hunger event are attempting to raise money and set a record for running the most miles on a treadmill during a 24 hour span.

The event started Friday December 6th and continued overnight and into Saturday.  The money raised during the event will benefit the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York.

For every 20 minutes of running that volunteers do, $20 will be donated.  Organizations such as Adidas, Asics, Nike, and Brooks have pledged to match the funds that are earned.

As for the record attempt, the current record for miles on a treadmill during a 24 hour span is 153.76 by Christopher Bergland in April, 2004.
