Cyber security tips
ALBANY -- Millions of people did some online shopping on what has become known as Cyber Monday.
But online experts warn that internet sales can leave you open to cyber crooks. They say there are a few simple tips that can help keep you and your money secure:
- Stick with sites that you know, and always look for a little lock symbol or a green bar on the website header to indicate authenticity.
- If you're searching for an item using a search engine, pause before clicking. Often, counterfeit sites that look legitimate pop up toward the top of search results and can mislead you.
- Beware of holiday e-cards if they come from someone you don't know. Don't open them; they can contain malware that can take over your machine.
