Shopping kicks off for Toys for Tots

Its going to be a happier holiday season for local children thanks to a shopping spree on Friday morning.

Representatives from the Marine Corps and Dunkin Donuts spent the morning stocking up on gifts at Wal-Mart. The volunteers were able to load up carts with hundreds of toys for area kids thanks to a $30,000 donation from the coffee chain. The load will help the Marines prepare for the Toys for Tots train that will roll through the capital region on December 7th and 8th.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of children out there that may not get toys over the holiday season or may not get that visit from Santa, says Eric Stensland, Field Marketing Manager for Dunkin Donuts. So this is one way to bring that joy to them.

The Marines will work with more than 200 community agencies to distribute toys this season, and will serve 200,000 children.
