Not brown but quick: Fox goes missing at NYC zoo

NEW YORK (AP) -- Officials from New York's Staten Island Zoo have been looking for a young fox that burrowed out of its enclosure.

The 10-pound, 7-month-old fox is named Montana. It was discovered missing on Monday.

The Staten Island Advance says it's one of two red foxes acquired by the zoo in July.

They'd been found wandering in the West Yellowstone area of Montana. Their mother was dead in a trap.

Zoo officials say the missing fox is fully vaccinated and is unlikely to be a threat to people or pets.

But members of the public still should not approach it or try to trap it.

Anyone who sees the fox is asked to call the zoo at 718-442-3101.
