Authorities stop attempt to sneak drugs into jail

ALBANY COUNTY -- Sheriff's deputies reportedly broke up a scheme to smuggle drugs and other contraband into the Albany County jail.

Laroy Cooper, 34, was arraigned Friday morning on drug charges stemming from the incident. Officials say they found 9 bags of cocaine in Coopers clothing when he went through the screening process at the Albany County Judicial Center. They also say he had tobacco, which is considered a contraband in the facility.

Cooper was remanded to Albany County Correction Facility without bail.
